Range & Habitat

Bamboo ratsnakes are native to Asia, including Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Taiwan, China, Thailand, and Vietnam.

At the Virginia Zoo, our bamboo ratsnake is in training to be an Animal Ambassador and lives behind the scenes.

Bamboo ratsnakes are carnivores.

Conservation

This species is currently listed as being of Least Concern by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Collection for the pet trade is one of the greatest threats to bamboo ratsnakes.
