World Painted Dog Day, celebrated annually on August 26th, is the perfect time to raise awareness for African painted dogs. This year, we are celebrating with our African painted dogs, Sassy and Pollock, by hosting special activities on Zoo grounds! Check out our activities below or visit Fountain Plaza for more information on the day of your trip.

  • 10AM: Educator Chat at African Painted Dog Habitat
  • 11AM: Plant Chat surrounding African Painted Dogs at African Painted Dog Habitat
  • 1PM: Keeper Chat at African Painted Dog Habitat
  • 1:30PM: Educator Chat about enrichment at African Painted Dog Habitat

Can’t make it to the Zoo that day? Consider participating in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) African Painted Dog Saving Animals From Extinction (SAFE) Program’s fundraiser with Panda Express. Click here for more details. A portion of all online sales on August 26 will be donated to African Painted Dog SAFE.
