Sink your fangs into spooky season at the Virginia Zoo with our last Adult Night of the year! This evening will be full of fa-BOO-lous fun, including a *new & improved* costume contest, DJ and dance floor, tricks & treats and so much more! Event is for ages 21+ only.

For the wellbeing of our animals, all trails and the Goat Yard will be closed during the event.

Costume Contest ($5)

With a $5 entry fee, show off your scary good costumes and win fa-BOO-lous prizes provide by the Virginia Zoo! Located in the Fountain Plaza.

  • 6pm, 6:30pm & 7pm
    • Winners for the first 3 time slots will compete in a grand prize contest at 7:30pm
  • Visit the sign up table in the Fountain Plaza at the start of the event to pick your preferred time slot
  • Register in advance when purchasing your ticket at this link. Limited spots available!
    • Registration will also be available at the sign up table from 5pm-6pm at the event
  • Winners will receive a variety of prizes provided by the Virginia Zoo including Zoo Memberships, Apple Airpods, a Behind-the-Scenes tour, and much more!

For the safety of you, our guests, animals, staff, and facilities, the following items are not permitted as part of your costume:

  • Full face coverings/masks
  • Live animals (with the exception of service animals)
  • Projectiles of any kind
  • Flames, pyrotechnics or explosives
  • Weapons, whether real or fake 
  • Bare feet 
  • Nudity, or any illusion to it, including overly revealing costumes

Limited number of tickets available. Advance ticket sales end when sold out (get yours early!). If tickets remain on the day of the event, gate sales will be credit card only. Tickets are non-refundable. All sales are final. Should a ticket holder be unable to attend the event, the purchase will be considered a donation. As an outdoor venue, events are rain or shine unless otherwise indicated. If any changes are made, an announcement via an email to our members and/or ticket holders and on the Virginia Zoo social media channels will be issued prior to the event.

The Zoo is a smoke-free facility; no smoking is allowed inside the Zoo. This also includes e-cigarettes and vaping. Inability to follow this rule will result in dismissal from Zoo grounds without a refund.
