Lions, Tigers & Symphony -- Oh My!
Sunday, September 7, 2008
Performance will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Spend a magical evening under the stars with the amazing animals of the Virginia Zoo and the dazzling music of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. Pack your blankets and lawn chairs and plan to be thoroughly entertained as musical strains and animals' roars combine for this exciting first-time event. Spend the day or just the afternoon at the Zoo and have a picnic dinner in the large event field. Refreshments will be available for purchase at the Zoo Restaurant and in the events field.

On the evening of September 7, the Virginia Zoo will host the Virginia Symphony Orchestra for a special concert conducted by renowned Music Director JoAnn Falletta. The Zoo's event field will be transformed into a musical park, as visitors spread blankets and settle in to enjoy performances by world class musicians in a family-friendly atmosphere.

This event will feature outstanding music, “picnic food” and drinks, and visits by our special animal ambassadors. The concert will be free to members of the Virginia Zoo and subscribers to the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. All others can enjoy this extraordinary evening for the cost of Zoo admission.

We are thrilled to be part of this unique partnership between the Zoo and a major arts organization, and look forward to many years of making beautiful music together. This event has been made possible through a generous Tourism Opportunity Program (TOPs) grant made by the City of Norfolk to the Virginia Symphony Orchestra.

“Lions, Tigers & Symphony, Oh My!” will appeal to first time Zoo visitors or Symphony goers, as well as long-time friends and fans. Free to Virginia Zoo members & Virginia Symphony subscribers. General Zoo admission applies for non-members or non-subscribers
