The Virginia Zoo is located at 3500 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23504, just two miles from Downtown Norfolk, a short 25-minute drive from the Virginia Beach Oceanfront and easily accessed from Interstate 64.

Stuck at a train crossing? Monticello Avenue provides an alternative route that can avoid the train tracks on your way to the Zoo.

Cycling to the Zoo? You can ride your own bike and we have bike racks are located outside the Ticket Booth.

Take Transit to the Zoo

The Virginia Zoo is conveniently located on Hampton Roads Transit’s Route 1. The bus stop is at Lafayette Park, within walking distance of the Zoo.

  • Bus fare is $2 each way.
  • Kids ride free with a fare-paying adult.
  • Students ages 13 to 17 can ride free with a Student Freedom Pass.

College students coming from ODU? Catch Route 4 from campus to the Downtown Norfolk Transit Center, then transfer to Route 1.
