Week 2 of CYTs
HEAR IT FROM OUR CONSERVATION YOUTH TEAM: WEEK 2
GUIDE TRACK
Hello everyone, it’s Miah and Katy. We are the peer coaches and mentors for the Guide Two Track who volunteer on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. We were both a part of the first year of the Conservation Youth Team program and returned this summer to help the incoming team prepare for their Guide duties throughout the summer. All of the CYT members have finished up their two-week training, and they are starting their first official week of guide duties and responsibilities. We are all so excited for the summer ahead and can’t wait to see how much our CYT’s grow, because we have all seen tremendous development in training alone.
Teens, if you’re looking for a summer activity to enhance your public speaking skills, develop friendships, and learn how you can make a difference in preserving the environment and saving endangered species, then look no further! Through the CYT program, you will gain valuable life skills that you will take with you into the work force and into your social life as well. The CYT program takes teens who are maybe a little shy or even those who aren’t afraid to do things outside of their comfort zone and transforms them into well-groomed public speakers and socializers. CYT’s also earn many volunteer hours over the summer that they can put on job resumes and college applications. If you are curious about what it means to be a part of the Conservation Youth Team, come check us out here at the Zoo! Guide Track members are here every day of the week, except for Wednesdays, but if you come on Wednesday you might catch a glimpse of our Camp Track CYT’s! We hope that you will come to see us this summer at the Zoo, and we hope you enjoy your summer!
