Staff, volunteers and the animals cannot wait to welcome you back into the Zoo! However, we have made a few modifications for everyone’s safety that may make your next Zoo visit a little different. Take a look at what you can expect on your next Zoo visit.
Some amenities and exhibits will be temporarily closed, including the World of Reptiles, ZooFarm, Australia Walkabout, Enrichment Playground and Water Plaza. Keeper Chats, ZooLive! Stage presentations and other animal encounters are cancelled.
Tickets and reservations can be made up to 2 weeks in advance. All tickets must be purchased and reserved in advance for a specific entry time slot – this even applies to Zoo Members. As of April 12, 2021, reservations are available beginning at 9:30 am with the last reservation at 2:30 pm. Once inside the Zoo, there is no time limit on your visit.
The Zoo is open daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.
All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Outside food or drinks are not allowed inside the Zoo.

The Virginia Zoo will be offering $5 admission to all Virginia state-wide Medicaid card holders for this program. This does not apply across other Norfolk institutions. Please verify with ticketing or admissions offices. See more information on the PowerUp! program here.
Reciprocal Memberships cannot be honored at this time, including the AZA reciprocity program.

Groups of 20 or more paying guests (non-school) can receive a discount off the price of admission*.
*Note that all group tickets must be purchased in a single transaction.
Tickets are nonrefundable. The group discount cannot be combined with any other discount or used for special events tickets.
