World Animal Day embraces all animals and the unique concerns of each and raises awareness of welfare standards around the globe. It is celebrated in different ways in every country, regardless of nationality, religion, faith, or political ideology. Join local interfaith leaders as they honor World Animal Day with a celebratory blessing of the animals. The blessing of the animals, in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, gives health, healing, and life for the benefit of the animal in its relationship with humans and the environment. Please Note: This is not a pet blessing, pets are not permitted on Zoo grounds. Meet at the Kugel Ball at 2:30 pm for a brief introduction and groups will divide up to bless the animals around the Zoo.
