Join us on March 6th for Homeschool Day at the Virginia Zoo! From 10am-2pm, we will bring learning to life with animal chats and encounters throughout the Zoo.

This event is included with admission and does not require special registration. Please present notice to staff at ticket booth or tell them of exemption at time of purchase.

What you can expect to experience at Homeschool Day:

· Animal Encounters at various times throughout the day. These encounters will feature our animal ambassadors and occur in different areas around the Zoo.

· Chats at various times throughout the day led by Virginia Zoo staff and volunteers. These chats will take place at different habitats throughout the Zoo as posted.

· Local teen author Geremiah DelValle will read a portion of his book, Lands of Scientia, which he wrote at 11 years old! He will share his love for reading and what inspired him to write his book at 12pm. The book-reading is open to all Zoo guests.

RAIN SCHEDULE:

  • 10:00 am – Wild Walk (meet in plaza)
  • 10:30 am – Animal Encounter in Africa Classroom
  • 11:00 am – Educator Chat at Giraffe Habitat
  • 11:30 am – Keeper Chat at Orangutan Dayroom
  • 12:00 pm – Book Reading in Africa Classroom & Educator Chat at Otter/Gibbon habitat overhang
  • 12:30 pm – Animal Encounter in Gift Shop
  • 1:00 pm – Educator Chat at Rhino Habitat
  • 1:30 pm – Keeper Chat at Siamese Crocodile Habitat (World of Reptiles)

Homeschool Day programs will take place rain or shine!
