1 Body Fitness Power Hour
Starts in February. Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. and the 1st Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. This hour-long interval training workout will get your blood pumping and muscles burning. Get a total body workout in some of the most unique scenery in Hampton Roads! Children are welcome at class as long as they are secured in a stroller or approved baby carrier. Orangutan Awareness Day
Sunday, May 12, 12 to 2 p.m. Swing by the orangutan exhibit on Mother's Day to learn about how you can protect these fascinating, yet critically endangered great apes. Informational displays will provide you with resources to help orangutans, their habitat and the wildlife that share their island home. Activities are included with regular Zoo admission.
Zoo-Fari Golf Tournament
Monday, May 13, 1 to 4 p.m. A charity golf tournament presented by the
Norfolk Sunrise Rotary Club at Greenbrier Country Club, 1301 Volvo Parkway, Chesapeake, VA. All proceeds from the event benefit the Virginia Zoo. Entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, practice range, golf cart, box lunch, beverages, awards reception/dinner and much more! CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO.
Endangered Species Day
Friday, May 17, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Your actions make a difference for endangered species, and this event will highlight ways to help animals locally and around the world. Find out how the Zoo helps endangered birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals. Activity stations will feature hands-on activities and lots of easy ideas for how you can help!
Zoo Parent Event
Sunday, May 19, 1 to 3 p.m. Our annual event to thank those who've adopted an animal during the year. Meet your animal's zookeeper, and get up-close and personal with some of our animal ambassadors, too. If you’ve not adopted your favorite animal yet, there’s still time! This event is invitation only, so watch your mail for an invitation postcard.
Virginia Symphony Concert
Friday, June 7, 6 to 9 p.m. Admissions prices to be announced.
Zoo Grooves Concerts
Concerts at the Zoo are a perfect evening activity for families, providing a safe environment for enjoying music, and some of your favorite summer foods and beverages. Artist and admissions prices to be announced. No rain dates, no passes or coupons.

Enrichment Day
Saturday, July 6. Animals at the Zoo will beat the heat with red, white and blue popsicles, play with star-spangled piñatas and maybe even roll around a watermelon! Find out why the Zoo’s enrichment program is an important part of daily animal care as you watch animals enjoy some extra-special holiday toys and treats. Activities are included with regular Zoo admission.
Teddy Bear Clinic The Virginia Zoo partners with doctors and nurses from Pediatric Specialists, a Children’s Medical Group Practice of CHKD, to host a special Teddy Bear Clinic. Children bring their teddy bears and other stuffed friends to the Zoo for a "check-up" and stitches. Children learn about doctor visits and healthcare in a comfortable and non-threatening environment. Teddy Bear Clinic activities are included with regular Zoo admission. Military Appreciation Day
A USO-sponsored event in appreciation of military service members hosted at the Virginia Zoo. Military members and their families are honored with free admission! This event is open to the public and free to military and dependents. Watch this space for Fall 2013 date.
Zoo Boo
Saturday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Animal pumpkin smashing, costume contests, trick or treat candy stations, and more! Admissions prices to be announced.
Holiday Marketplace
Saturday, Nov. 30, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Holiday Marketplace at the Zoo features holiday ornaments, train gift packs, animal art, zoodoptions and more zoo-themed holiday gifts! Activities included with regular admission.

Kiss & Tail - Valentine's Day Event
Thanks to everyone who joined us for Kiss & Tail Saturday, February 16, a special Valentine's Day program about Jungle Love that separates the birds from the beasts! Join us next spring for this adults-only opportunity to learn about animal mating, dating and reproductive habits in an honest and humorous forum.

Party for the Planet
Thanks to those of you who came out Saturday, April 20 to learn about conservation steps you can take to protect natural habitats locally and around the world; see how our zookeepers use enrichment to encourage natural behaviors that will keep Zoo animals healthy and happy; and play like a monkey with the kinds of toys we give animals from meerkats to elephants.
