Scout Programs and Zoo Snoozes

Have you ever wondered what happens at the Zoo after it closes? Venture into the unknown with us during an overnight Zoo Snooze and share the night life with our animals. We offer Scout, birthday and organization snoozes. Activities include a live animal presentation, a nature hike at night through the zoo, behind-the-scenes tours, wildlife games, and more. A light breakfast is provided in the morning.

Girl Scout Badge Nights:

Sensational Senses Badge Night

Friday, March 20, 2015  6pm-9pm

Calling all Brownie Girl Scouts! Join the Virginia Zoo for a fun filled evening and complete all the activities necessary to earn the Senses Badge.  Learn how animals and humans rely on their senses to survive and meet a few sense-sational animal ambassadors!

(Badges will not be supplied at the program.  Troops are responsible for obtaining their own badges)

Rainforest Rendezvous Badge Night

Friday, April 24, 2015 6pm-9pm

Journey to the rainforests of the world as you explore what makes this ecosystem so diverse and important!  Meet some rainforest animal ambassadors and earn a special Virginia Zoo Patch!

Wildlife Sleuth Badge Night

Friday, May 15, 2015 6pm-9pm

Have you ever wondered how wildlife biologists study animals in the wild?  Join the Virginia Zoo and other scouts to see if you have what it takes to be a wildlife biologist. Scouts will earn a Virginia Zoo patch.

Zoo Snoozes Available for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts:

    • Explore the natural world during this fun filled night at the zoo

With advance notice, we can even customize a program that fits your needs.

We are now accepting Scout snooze reservations for 2014/2015 school year!

Reservations:

Snoozes are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and require $350.00 minimum payment to reserve the date.

Cost:

  • $35.00/person
  • 35 maximum participants

There is a minimum charge of $350, which must be made to secure the date.

Refund Policy Snooze cancellations must be received at least three weeks before the snooze date to receive a partial refund of 80%. No refunds will be given for a snooze cancelled less than three weeks before the reserved date.

What to Bring:

Bring appropriate clothing for the weather, nutritional snacks and drinks, sleeping bags, pajamas, toothbrush and flashlight. Participants must have dinner prior to the start of the program. Dinner and snacks are not provided; however, breakfast is provided in the morning.
