virginia zoo COVID OPERATIONS

The Virginia Zoo is open with some modifications and a new schedule. Take a look at our video for the highlights of what you can expect on your next Zoo visit.

Tickets are now on sale!

All visitors, including Zoo members, are required to purchase tickets in advance. No walk-ups are allowed at this time.

 
New Hours (as of august 1, 2020):

Open daily from 10 am to 4 pm

One-Way Paths:

Asia – Trail of the Tiger and Africa – Okavanga Delta are one way paths.

Masks and Social Distancing:

All visitors and staff ages 10 and up are only required to wear face masks upon entry, when indoors and when within 6 feet of others not in your group. Please maintain a safe distance from others not in your group at all times.

Temporarily Closed:

World of Reptiles and ZooFarm, Australia Walkabout, Water Plaza and the Membership Office are temporarily closed. Keeper Chats, ZooLive! Stage presentations and other animal programs are currently canceled.

ZOO TRAIN:

The Zoo train will only operate during times that the temperature is above 55 degrees. The train will be closed during inclement weather and extreme temperatures. The Zoo Train may also close early due to low attendance. Please check with the Ticket Booth Attendant for train hours and operations.

DINING:

There will be a limited menu available at the Africa Restaurant. Hours are 10 am to 3:30 pm.

gift shop:

The Zoo Gift Shop is open. Visitors are required to wear masks while in the gift shop. Please only touch items you intend to buy.

OTHER NOTES:

To ensure the safety of our visitors, staff and animals, the Virginia Zoo is following these procedures until further notice:

  • A limited number of entries allowed per day at timed intervals
  • No-contact entry with online, advanced reservations
  • High touchpoint areas marked and cleaned frequently
  • Sanitizer stations located throughout the park, including food locations
  • Increased cleaning procedures
