Plastic Free EcoChallenge is a 31-day, global challenge in the month of July to reduce and refuse single-use plastics. We invite you to create intention and take action on creating plastic-free habits with us!
Throughout the EcoChallenge, share your progress, success, and reflections with fellow EcoChallengers, all while earning points for completed actions. The combination of collective inspiration, camaraderie, and friendly competition makes change a little easier – and a lot more fun. After all, progress is social!
This year, the Virginia Zoo has two teams – the (Non)Plastics staff and volunteer team, and the Virginia Zoo Fans team, which is open for the public to join. Find out if you’re doing enough to help save the planet by taking the challenge this month!
Read our blog for more info on the ecochallenge, how it works, what you need to do and how you can win prizes for participating!
This group is available to all friends, family and fans of the Virginia Zoo who are eager to be a steward of our organization by limiting or eliminating plastic usage and reducing your carbon footprint. Studies show that if you complete a task daily for 30 days it can become a habit, so make being eco-friendly and environmentally conscious part of your daily routine. You won’t be alone in this process, and you may even be rewarded for your efforts! If you have any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Only Zoo staff and volunteers can join this group, the (Non)Plastics, with the valid password, which is available via email or through Taylor, the Plastic Free EcoChallenge Coordinator. Last year more than 150 volunteers and staff members of the Zoo, including educators, zoo keepers, mainentance workers, horticulture technicians, marketing professionals and even the Zoo Director himself accepted the challenge. Get in animal lovers, we’re ditching plastics (and other one-time use items)!
