SUMMARY:Giving ZooDay
DESCRIPTION:Choose your team!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTEAM FEATHERS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTEAM FUR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTEAM SCALES\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTODAY is Giving Tuesday\, or Giving ZooDay\, as we like to call it in the animal kingdom. 😉 \n\n\n\nThis Giving ZooDay\, the Virginia Zoo is asking for your support in raising $5\,000! Every dollar given today will go towards the Zoo’s Keeper Fund\, which provides enrichment for our animals and educational opportunities for their keepers! \n\n\n\nTeam Feathers\n\n\n\nHelp Team Feathers soar to new heights! Donating to your favorite feathered friends this Giving ZooDay could provide the Zoo’s Bird Keepers with advanced networking opportunities to learn from other avian experts around the country. Sometimes our birds\, like the tawny frogmouths\, struggle to be first-time parents and our keepers need to intervene. Meeting with other professionals can help our team learn the best way to hand-raise chicks\, like Inala\, or help parents along in the learning process! \n\n\n\nTeam Fur\n\n\n\nEarn your stripes by donating to Team Fur! Giving a gift\, no matter how big or small today to Team Fur will help provide additional enrichment for the mammals who call the Zoo home. Our lions\, for example\, love to play with bobbins and boomer balls. These durable\, but not indestructible\, toys can cost upwards of $150 per toy for a few minutes of fun! Zebus and other ZooFarm friends\, on the other hand\, like to rub up against livestock brushes to scratch those itches they just can’t reach. \n\n\n\nTeam Scales\n\n\n\nWill Team Scales slither their way to victory? When you support our reptilian rascals this Giving ZooDay\, you are providing educational opportunities for our keepers\, such as the chance to go to a week-long Crocodile School in St. Augustine. A class like this will give our keepers the opportunity to learn from croc experts\, gain invaluable tools\, and advance their knowledge to better care for our animals. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDonors of each team will receive Zoo-pendous prizes based on their contributions to the fundraising campaign: \n\n\n\n\n$25 donors will receive a small Virginia Zoo sticker\n\n\n\n$50 donors will receive a large Virginia Zoo sticker\n\n\n\n$100 donors will receive a Virginia Zoo hat\n\n\n\n$250 donors will receive our best-selling Virginia Zoo hat

SUMMARY:Paint Pink Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:GIVE A GIFT TODAY!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs we enter the season of giving\, join the Virginia Zoo in supporting local cancer patients through our partnership with local nonprofit Paint Pink. 🎨🩷 \n\n\n\nPaint Pink was founded by Kim Keene\, the late partner of one of the Virginia Zoo’s Board of Directors dedicated members. “Paint Pink’s mission is to support local cancer patients with financial assistance for goods and services that are not covered by insurance\, thus enabling patients to focus on their battle with this disease.” \n\n\n\nTo honor Kim’s memory and to give back to a family who has given so much to the Zoo over the years\, on November 9th from 12pm-3pm we will be hosting a fundraiser with keychains featuring art created by our animals for a suggested donation of $5 each. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThose who give a gift of $10 or more will automatically be entered to win a one-of-a-kind 24”x 36” canvas painted by the Zoo’s four adult orangutans: Dara\, Solaris\, Pepper and Schnitz. (Winner will be notified by the Virginia Zoo on Tuesday\, November 12th\, post Veterans Day weekend). All proceeds will support the missions of both the Paint Pink and Virginia Zoo nonprofits. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAccess to the fundraiser is included with paid General Zoo Admission or membership from 12pm-3pm on Saturday\, November 9th only. Fundraiser is rain or shine. Keychains are available while supplies last and only to those who donate in person during the fundraiser. If you’re unable to attend in person but would like to show your support and have a chance to win our orangutan-painted canvas\, consider giving a gift: \n\n\n\n\nDONATE HERE!
