SUMMARY:The Monarch Mile
DESCRIPTION:Purchase your tickets here!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan YOU go the distance for monarch butterfly conservation? Every spring\, monarch butterflies east of the Rocky Mountains migrate from Mexico to their summer breeding grounds in the United States and Canada. In the fall\, they journey nearly 3\,000 miles back down south to weather the winter. This migration is becoming increasingly difficult due to habitat loss\, increased pesticide use\, climate change\, and other factors.  \n\n\n\nJoin the Virginia Zoo and the Tidewater Striders in supporting monarch butterflies by running\, walking\, or fluttering through the Zoo on (NEW DATE!) Sunday\, September 20 before opening! Proceeds go directly to monarch butterfly conservation. Your ticket also includes all day Zoo admission. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Map\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nActivities & Schedule\n\n\n\n\n8 – 8:30am: Animal Ambassador Greeters in Fountain Plaza\n\n\n\n9:30am: Animal Trails and Goat Yard Open\n\n\n\nReceive a Monarch Butterfly Trading Card\n\n\n\nSubmit your memories table \n\nShare your Virginia Zoo memories with us for the chance to be featured in our 125th anniversary celebrations! \n\n\n\n\n\nConservation Engagement Activities: \n\nCommunity Science Table in Outdoor Classroom across from Snavely\n\n\n\nPollinator Table in Fountain Plaza\n\n\n\nInsect Coloring Table by Animal Wellness Campus\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAvailable for an additional cost ($):\n\n\n\n\nVirginia Zoo Gift Shop: Butterfly wings available for purchase! \n\nMonarch\, Blue Morpho\, and Swallowtail Butterfly Wings will be available in kid’s sizing. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFood & Drinks ($)\n\n\n\n\nGlazed & Infuzed Coffee Truck \n\n\n\nAfrican Village Restaurant (open 10am – 4pm)\n\n\n\nBeastro (open 10:30am – 3:30pm)\n\n\n\nMini Melts (open 10:30am – 4pm)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n💲Ticket Prices💲\n\n\n\n🦋 $10 ticket for all participants\, including Virginia Zoo Members (100% donated to Monarch Conservation) \n\n\n\n\nPurchase your tickets here!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Reminders\n\n\n\nBy purchasing an event ticket\, you agree to abide by the Virginia Zoo’s Rules & Policies. \n\n\n\n\nLimited number of tickets available. Advance ticket sales end when sold out (get yours early!).
