It is estimated that as many as 500 million animals – including some that are critically endangered – have perished in the Australian bushfires, with the full impact not yet possible to determine.

The Virginia Zoo is hosting “Act for Australia” – a day to raise awareness, educate and help support the animals affected by the fires and those who are trying to save their lives. The Australia Walkabout exhibit will be open, and activities will take place in and outside of the exhibit.

What you can expect to experience:

  • Australia Walkabout exhibit open from 10 am to 2 pm
  • 11 am – Keeper Chat
  • 11:30 am – Special Australia Behind the Scenes Tours
    • Limited 20 spots available  SOLD OUT!
  • Interactive and educational activities and crafts
  • Animal Enrichment
  • Zoodoption Special that contributes directly to the Bushfire Emergency Wildlife Fund, organized by our zoological colleagues at Zoos Victoria in Australia.
