Spring Break Camp

Spend a day, a few days, or a whole week with fascinating animals in the Virginia Zoo’s Animals Head to Paw Spring Break Camp!Meet animals big and small, furry and scaly, and learn about the amazing ways animals move, eat, see, hear and smell. Each day we will explore a different Zoo theme that will include up-close animal encounters, behind-the scenes opportunities, crafts, games, and Zoo hikes. Learning has never been so fun!
FOR GRADES 1 – 5
Dates: April 10 – 14, 2017
Times: Camps run from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M.
PRICES
Full week: $300/members and $350/non-members.
Per day: $75/members and $90/non-members
THEMES:
Monday, April 10 – Feet are Neat
From sharp claws to sticky toes, to webbed feet and heavy hooves, the perfect paw helps an animal survive. We’ll discover how animal use their feet for climbing, swimming, digging, and even eating.
Tuesday, April 11 – Quite a Bite
From sharp and pointy canines to flat and wide molars, all types of teeth are important! Explore what makes a predator’s bite so effective and how some animals can chow down on grass all day long. This day is all about how an animal’s pearly whites help them eat what they need to in order to grow and survive!
Wednesday, April 12 – Keen Eyes
See the world around you through exciting animal eyes. This day is all about how animals use their eyes to see the world around them. Together we’ll discover how animals use their sense of sight for survival and learn about animals that have excellent vision and maybe those that don’t!
Thursday, April 13 – Clever Ears
Do your ears work like a lion’s? Or maybe an owl’s? See how animals use their ears for more than just hearing through learning activities and interactive games. Discover how to listen to your surroundings to investigate the animals around you.
Friday, April 14 – Knowing Noses
For some of our Zoo residents smell is their most important way of keeping track of things around them. Many animals have amazing noses, and other creatures smell with tongues or even taste with their feet!
