Experience the amazing world of animals with School’s Out Safari Camps at the Virginia Zoo! Safari Camps are an exciting opportunity for students in grades 1-5 to dive into nature in a safe, hands-on, and age-appropriate setting. Campers of all abilities and learning styles can enjoy a fun, action-packed day off from school where they will encounter animals up close, express their creativity, and explore the entire Zoo. With behind-the-scenes adventures and games galore, Safari Camp is the best way to discover the natural world.Discover the wonder of animals in winter. Each day is a unique adventure – so join us for one, two, three or all four days of fun!

Beary Cool: December 30, 2019
How much does a polar bear weigh? Enough to break the ice! Campers will make new friends while learning about animals that live in the world’s most extreme habitats.
Snug as a Bug: December 31, 2019 
Where do all the animals go in winter? With Jack Frost around, it’s too cold to stay outside all the time! In today’s adventure, campers will learn who bundles up, who takes a snooze, and who takes a trip south to avoid the cold.
Frost Bite: January 2, 2020
Who’s hungry? All animals need food to survive—but where do they find it in winter? Learn the ins and outs of animal diets and predator-prey relationships when (baby) it’s cold outside.
Tip of the Iceberg: January 2, 2020
The weather outside is frightful, and nature has settled down for a long winter’s nap right? Wrong! Explore the outdoors and look for signs of life in winter. Learn how animals and plants depend on one another, and how humans can positively impact living things and their habitats.
