Giddy up to support the reopening of

the Virginia Zoo’s ZooFarm!

We are udderly excited to announce the ZooFarm’s reopening on May 5! We know you have missed visiting the ZooFarm, and the animals have missed you too! Moo with the cows, feel the fuzzy fur of a sheep or the thick hair of a pig, watch the cavies jump, see the alpaca enjoying a refreshing mist from their Keepers or hear how the screamers’ earned their name! A herd of 10 munching and magnanimous goats have arrived for the season and new to the ZooFarm this summer – a scurry of Prevost’s squirrels! And we couldn’t forget our buzzing buddies over in the red barn – the Zoo’s bees are getting an upgraded hive!

To be able to open our barn doors we need to hire additional seasonal staff, install safety signage, add new fences and partitions, provide training to volunteers and arrange transportation of the new animals. This is no easy task, so we’re calling on our Farm Friends to round up support to make these exceptional experiences possible!

If you’re on the fence about donating, head over to our website to meet the hooved, clawed, feathered and even quilled animals of the ZooFarm that you’ll be supporting. *Those Farm Friends who rise and shine to the challenge by donating $100 or more will a personalized thank you video greeting from a surprise farm animal.

Please note: New protocols will be in place at the ZooFarm, including a one-way path throughout the exhibit. Masks will need to be worn at all times for those ages 5+ while in the ZooFarm and hand sanitizer will be required to be used to enter as visitors will be permitted to touch the animals.
