Enhance your Zoo visit with an exclusive walking tour led by a knowledgeable and engaging Zoo educator. Learn more about wildlife conservation or the science of the zoo on a 90-minute walking tour, and get a glimpse behind the scenes at some of your favorite areas of the Zoo.
Two exciting themes are available: Conservation Story and Science of the Zoo. Tours are led at select days and times.
ACTIVITIES

SCIENCE OF THE ZOO – WORLD OF REPTILES

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at the Zoo, or how zoos became such important places for wildlife conservation? On this tour, learn more about the history of the Virginia Zoo and how science helps us provide the best care for our animals.

Tours start at 2 pm and meet outside the gates. Tours can take up to 8 people. There is no age restriction; under 2 are free. All tours include park admission. Space is limited.  Closed-toe shoes are required as are face masks for everyone over 2 years of age.

2 pm Science of the Zoo Explore tours typically take place in the World of Reptiles building. However, some areas may be closed or the tour route may be changed due to sensitive animal restrictions.

Members: $10 per person
Non-members: $20 per person (this includes admission)
