It's Hog Heaven At the Zoo with a New Harley The Virginia Zoo proudly announces the birth of 7 hogs – including baby Harley Norfolk , VA – The Virginia Zoo has a new, sleek black Harley in its collection – a baby hog born on April 23 in the Virginia Barnyard exhibit. Harley is one of seven baby hogs born to Guinea Hogs Penny and Arnold, and all are doing well. This is Penny's second litter at the Zoo, and the young hogs are on exhibit in the barnyard and growing quickly. In addition to Harley, the little hogs are named Penelope, Tiffany, Oscar, Jason, Andre and Buddha. They are happily spending their time eating, grunting and sleeping in a heap in the sun. Each weighed approximately one and a half pounds at birth. “Many of the kids who visit the Zoo come from urban and suburban neighborhoods,” notes executive director Greg Bockheim, “and to them, these young hogs are as exotic as our rarer Red River Hogs in the Africa exhibit. It's great that we can have them on exhibit this time of year, when so many school children are visiting the Zoo on their spring fieldtrips.” Come visit Penny and her babies at the Virginia Zoo located at 3500 Granby Street in Norfolk . The Zoo is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. |
