Are you interested in bringing a school group to the Zoo for a field trip? You can choose among a variety of options to fit your educational needs. Once you have decided on a program, follow the instructions to reserve your wild day of education. Then, prepare for your visit! Self-Guided Tours

Time/Duration: Monday – Friday. 10 am to 5 pm. Allow 2-3 hours to tour the Zoo.

Reservations: Reservations are required at least four (4) weeks prior to the date of visit. One person must pay for entire group to receive discount.

Cost: $10 for ages 2-11; $12 for ages 12+. One adult is free with every ten (10) students. If included in group payment, additional adults are $8 each. Students living with ADA disabilities (physical or cognitive) free + 1 free adult per student living with a disability

Note: Discounts and coupons do not apply to school rates. Schools physically located in the City of Norfolk receive free admission for students on a self-guided tour. Reservation required.

ADD-ON: Train Fun Tickets

Want to make your trip to the Zoo just a bit more wild? Customize your day with any of our Zoo extras, ranging from animal encounters to train rides.

The Train Fun Ticket includes one–day student admission and one train ride.

Time/Duration: 10 am to 4 pm, depending on availability and weather permitting.

Reservations: Space is limited, get your request in early. Add “Train” in the notes section of any of the field trip request forms.

Cost: $9 for ages 2-11; $11 for ages 12+. One adult (teachers, staff, or parents) ride free with every ten (10) students. Additional adult chaperones above the 1:10 ratio paid for as part of the school group payment (single form of payment; one transaction for entire group) receive a discounted Train Fun Ticket rate of $8 each.

Note: The Train Fun Ticket discount does not apply to Norfolk School students, Home Schools, or students living with disabilities. The cost is $2 per student to ride the train. The Train Fun Ticket cannot be combined with any other offer or discount.
