Preschool Discovery Programs

(Ages 3 to 5 years, maximum 25 children)

Pre-school programs are for children ages 3 to 5 years. Please do not schedule these programs for children less than 3 years old. For information about programs for 2-year-olds, click here.

Some programs are available to go to your school.  These presentations must take place in a space that does not have any air-breathing animals. We are able to teach up to three presentations per day at a school. However, we are only able to offer one topic on a given day,

Pre-school programs are approximately 30 minutes long.

Guided Zoo tours also are available. Click here for information about Guided Zoo Tours.

Eyes, Ears, and Noses Explore the eyes, ears and noses of different animals.  Find out how animals’ senses help them survive in the wild.  (Recommended for 3 and 4 year olds)  Presented on-site at the Zoo or at your school as a Zoo-to-You program

Animals on the Move  Slithering, crawling, hopping, climbing and flying — animals have many ways of moving around.  Join us as we learn how animals get from one place to another.  (Recommended for 3 and 4 year olds) Presented on-site at the Zoo or at your school as a Zoo-to-You program

Slippery, Scaly, Feathery or Furry Young students will meet animals from different groups to help them understand who’s furry, feathery, scaly or smooth and slippery. A particular topic in junior life science can be presented simply at your request. Presented on-site at the Zoo or at your school as a Zoo-to-You program

Zoo for 2s
Animal encounters for 2-year-old children also are available. Young participants will be able to touch some animals (with close supervision), and for animals that can’t be touched, toy replicas or “biofacts” such as hair or feathers will be presented.
