Are you interested in bringing a school group to the Zoo for a field trip? You can choose between a variety of options to fit your educational needs. Once you have decided on a program, follow the instructions to reserve your wild day of education. Then, prepare for your visit! DISCOVERY PROGRAMS

School’s in Session – at the Zoo! Discovery Programs provide a hands-on, brains-on opportunity for students in all grade levels to learn about animals and conservation. Each program includes an up-close animal encounter and interactive science lessons aligned to Virginia’s Standards of Learning. Choose from one of our fascinating program topics here. All Zoo school programs fit curriculum requirements in North Carolina and private schools.

Time/Duration  10 am to 5 pm. Allow 2-3 hours to tour the Zoo.

Reservations  Reservations are required at least four (4) weeks prior to the date of visit.

Cost  $300 per program for 30 students and 3 adults. Admission to the Zoo is included.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS AT THE ZOO

Visiting the Zoo on a restricted schedule? Ask about a 30-minute program in which applicable science themes can be integrated into exciting and interactive animal presentations.

Time/Duration  Close Encounters can be scheduled to start from 10 am to 3 pm

Reservations  Reservations are required at least four (4) weeks prior to the date of visit.

Cost $250 per 30 students and 3 chaperones. Admission to the Zoo is included.

GUIDED SCHOOL TOURS AT THE ZOO

Go beyond the classroom walls with a guided tour led by a Zoo Educator or experienced docent. This one-hour tour can feature information customized to fit specific age groups or curriculum requirements, please let us know about your featured topics in advance!

Time/Duration  Guided tours begin at 10 am and can be scheduled to start up until 3 pm

Reservations Reservations are required at least four (4) weeks prior to the date of visit.

Cost $150 per 15 students and 2 adults. Admission to the Zoo is included.

SELF-GUIDED FIELD TRIPS

Time/Duration  Monday – Friday. 10 am to 5 pm. Allow 2-3 hours to tour the Zoo.

Reservations  Reservations are required at least four (4) weeks prior to the date of visit. One person must pay for entire group to receive discount.

Cost  $8 for ages 2-11; $10 for ages 12+. One adult is free with every ten (10) students. If included in group payment, additional adults are $6 each. Students living with ADA disabilities (physical or cognitive) free + 1 free adult per student living with a disability

Note  Discounts and coupons do not apply to school rates. Schools physically located in the City of Norfolk receive free admission for students on a self-guided field trip. Reservation required.
