Coming This SummerSo Much to do at the Zoo!
May 27, 2016
With summer fast approaching and the weather finally catching up, now is the time to enjoy all the Zoo has to offer. The holiday weekend brings lots of activates to keep in mind all summer long.
Australia Walkabout Opens
The Zoo’s Australia Walkabout will open full time, allowing visitors an immersive experience and up-close encounters with Australian animals. The exhibit was renovated in 2015 to include a visitor path through the habitat. The mixed-species exhibit features wallabies, kangaroo and emu.
ZooLive! Stage Shows
The Zoo’s Education Department is setting the stage for exciting animal encounters all summer long. Visitors can enjoy the Zoo’s animal ambassadors Monday through Friday at 11 am and Saturdays and Sundays at both 11 am and 1 pm. These educational programs showcase the animals’ natural talents to give children and adults alike an up-close experience they’ll never forget.
Member Mornings Begin
One of the many perks of a Virginia Zoo Membership includes a chance to beat the heat with early entrance to the Zoo on weekends until Labor Day. This behind-the-scenes look allows Zoo members to enter at 9 am on both Saturdays and Sundays.
The Zoo’s popular concert series ZooGrooves, exclusive Member Nights and other exciting events will also return. Don’t forget to pack the kid’s bathing suits when you visit the Zoo as the Water Plaza fountains will start in June as well. Check the website for a full schedule, http://virginiazoo.org/events/
